Murder and the Creation of the American Highway

This article and video appeared on the BBC today, produced by Tracy Sutherland.

It details how the rise of the highways soon became associated with violence, and some of the first killers to take advantage of being connected.

The video and article briefly discuss Charles Starkweather and Caril Fugates and their serial murders across state lines, and also Ed Kemper’s assaults on hitchhikers.
